How a Creativity Crisis Started World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 - 21

World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 - 21 began in May 2001 when Canada's National Post newspaper ran this banner headline: "Canada in Creativity Crisis: Study." It shook Marci to the bone. Together with other Canadian creativity professionals, she launched the worldwide celebration of creativity and innovation. The purpose: to raise awareness that all people by nature are creative and they can choose to use their creativity to improve their lives, their work, their community. Now, 8 years after its inception, the event is celebrated in over 105 communities across 46 countries. World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 - 21 occupies a week - beginning on April 15th (Leonardo da Vinci's birthday).

World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 - 21 is an event that most everyone can participate. It is not restricted by age, gender, race, religion, sex, nationality, eye colour, or height.  Everyone has the creative seed and can choose to plant it to make a difference, to build the future we want.

What's really special about World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 - 21 is that there are as many ways to celebrate as there are stars in the skies.
  • Businesses use the week to promote innovation in their environment

  • Friends get together to do a new activity
